Every incident leaves two records

A small studio on the left bank: incident analysis and information design for the city's grids, transit and archives. We read the logs everyone else skims, and we draw what we find.

Duplicate records at the depository

Two call-out records with one sequence number. We did not ask which one was true. We asked how the second one got in.

The pattern was not in the content of the records but in their temporal structure: four older duplicates, each moved quietly to passive storage, each presenting the same #a3f9…c2 at the door.

CASE 0121beforeA
Drawn scene: a green-bar printout with one sequence ringed in red pencil
The intake log as it was printed: two lines, one number.
CASE 0121afterB
Drawn scene: three monitors with translucent windows layered over each other
The same night, laid out so the pattern shows.

Intake, validate, lock, archive

The same four steps the city applies to every record. We apply them to our own work, and we keep every draft.

  1. Intake

Every log, every export, every printout. Nothing is filtered on the way in.

  2. Validate

We check format before content. A record that passes is a record, whether we like it or not.

  3. Lock

Findings are fixed with a fingerprint and a time, so nobody can move them later.

  4. Archive

The work, the drafts and the dead ends, filed side by side. Nothing is deleted.

A studio that keeps its drafts

Third Circuit Studio is a sample: a fictional practice on the left bank of Winbon, invented to show how the template carries a portfolio. Swap the register for your own work, keep the records.

SEQ 0000-061colophon

Set in IBM Plex Sans, Public Sans and JetBrains Mono. Pictures are drawn scenes of Winbon, rendered to WebP. No photographs of real places.
